EZ Tees Benefits in Vancouver

synthetic turf tee line

There are several benefits of installing Synthetic Turf’s® artificial grass products on residential and commercial properties. As artificial grass technology improves and expands, the look, feel and experience continues to improve.

Gorgeous Green Synthetic Grass

One of the greatest benefits of installing Synthetic Turf® products is how easy it is to maintain gorgeous green grass. The maintenance packages we offer are completely optional and purely for aesthetics.

While residential properties typically require minimal to zero regular maintenance, commercial uses, such as golf courses, require a bit more care for optimal use.

With the spring season on the horizon, it’s time to consider the state of your golf course turf. For the best golfing experience, replace it after winter.

The Benefits of Synthetic Turf® EZ Tee Product Line on Your Golf Course

Throughout the golfing season, golf courses experience a lot of use, which wears Tee Lines and Hitting Mats down. Similarly, snow, ice and the winter conditions cause golf course turfs to lose its feel and look.

Synthetic Turf® offers two tee line and hitting mat surfaces to give your golfers and golf course the ultimate look and feel. The EZ Tee Poly® is made from polypropylene. This allows for a stiffer fiber which is ideal for heavy traffic Tee Lines.

EZ Tee Hybrid® our other top end Tee Line and Hitting Mat turf. Polypropylene and nylon blend allows for a fuller fiber with soft feel through impact.

Both EZ Tee Poly® and EZ Tee Hybrid® are used by several elite golf courses through the US and Canada. Neither product replaces real grass, but it gives grass time to heal properly and can be installed on a compacted aggregate base or on concrete. Concrete will extend the life of these turfs.

Traditional Golf in Canada

Canadians would agree that golf is a favourite activity country wide. Home to 2,298 public and private golf facilities, with 77% of the total golf supply located in Canada’s four most populated provinces- Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. Almost six million Canadians play sixty million rounds of golf per year. With the sport being so readily available to most Canadians, some are beginning to wonder how golf is changing with the younger generations?

Turf for Alternative Golf Games

With the ever-increasing price of real estate, courses are being bulldozed for new developments. Many Canadians wonder if the 18-hole game will attract younger golfers to the sport. The traditional sport has seen many attempts to bring some new sense of fun to the game to attract a wider range of players. Arguably the most successful attempt in North America would be Topgolf, which is coming to Canada later this year.

Topgolf operates multi-tiered driving ranges with players using micro-chipped golf balls, which they aim at giant targets in the landing area. Instant feedback is provided to the golfer and different games can be played using the system.

However, the atmosphere is much different than a traditional driving range. Each climate-controlled hitting bay includes a lounge area with music, televisions showing live sports, and food and beverage service. In many ways, it’s like putting a driving range in the middle of a sports bar. It’s become a huge hit in the 33 current locations it operates, attracting a diverse demographic of customers.” –TSN, 2017.

Ripped Links is another new idea that has emerged this past year with events in Vancouver, BC.  The game is staged in various locations like a beach or urban setting, with golfers hitting off elevated platforms with synthetic turf hitting mats, to the artificial turf putting green where they putt and sink the hole. Add in the music festival atmosphere surrounding the crowds and you’ve got a unique and fun golf event catered directly to the younger generations.

Synthetic turf allows these new games to continue to flourish year-round. While most of Canada is knee deep in snow, these new indoor driving range facilities allow players to get out and practice or enjoy the entertainment value year-round.

Synthetic Turf Tee Lines

We know that even though these new games are a hit, nothing will take away the original golf game on a natural course from avid golfers. To ensure the natural tee line is as pristine as the course requires, it can be beneficial to allow it time to rest for some periods of the year while it is maintained. A great alternative is to have a synthetic tee line in one area to allow continuous use of the driving range. EZTee® synthetic turf is the preferred option by top courses around the globe.

Synthetic Turf International of Canada’s EZ Tee® nylon tee line surface is an innovative artificial turf system, designed specifically for driving range tee lines. In addition to being able to hit down and through the ball, golfers can also hit from a regulation golf tee placed directly in the EZ Tee® surface. This is a stark departure from the white plastic tube that serves as a tee in other synthetic tee line surfaces. In addition to the realistic playability of EZ Tee®, club owners and equity members benefit greatly from its cost-effectiveness. EZ Tee® permits continuous use, eliminating the need to relocate and reseed driving range areas. Appropriate for tee lines and hitting mats, EZ Tee® can be installed over natural base or concrete.

Fall is the time to begin planning, budgeting and scheduling, to have the new tee line installed for the start of the upcoming season. Golf and country clubs strive to hit the ground running soon as weather permits in the Spring. Having a synthetic turf tee line available to members on the first nice day of the year not only allows the course to begin earning profits much earlier than expected, but members will be raving about the incredible customer service by lengthening their season!

Markland Wood Golf Course Builds Synthetic Turf Power Cage

Markland Wood Golf Course installs Synthetic Turf Canada’s premium EZTee Hybrid Plus hitting turf.16

Markland Wood Golf Course has completed a very large update of their grounds this summer. They asked Synthetic Turf Canada to complete the brand new power cage they were building. Our team was excited to create a stunning new space for them with some of our favourite products! EZTee Hybrid Plus is our premium hitting turf option which many top courses have chosen to install at their driving range. For the receiving turf within the netted area, we used our SoftLawn Bluegrass Blend. This product is one of our most popular all around turfs as it is quite versatile for residential and commercial applications, not to mention it looks great alongside EZTee turf.

Synthetic Turf Toronto Builds 20,000 sq.ft Backyard Putting Green

The featured installation this month comes out of Toronto, ON. Our team in Toronto had a large residential golf project this fall which turned into quite an impressive yard!

This project features STI Tour Shot as the putting surface, SoftLawn EZ Play as the fringe, and SoftLawn Select as the rough. Together these created an 18,000 square foot putting green! Most people dream of practicing on a green like this, so our team had a great time creating this space for our client. The yard also features a 700 square foot tee deck created from our EZ Tee system, as seen below. To finish it off, they added in two synthetic bunkers out of our Bunker Turf for a total of 1,100 square feet to get stuck in the bunker. What a fun area this was when complete! To grasp the size of this project, just take a look at the three golf carts parked near the green above.

The finished project fits right in with his natural backdrop of a treed in area over looking the pond. The colours worked so well together and the space was used to its full potential. This golf lover couldn’t have been more excited to get out there and start practicing in his own backyard.

3 Ways to Make Your Golf Members Stay Members for Life

As a superintendent, director, or head pro, you are concerned about your members and how they are enjoying your golf course. Your goal is for them to return year after year, while bringing new friends and family each visit. The question then becomes how do you keep these retention rates so high among existing members?

We have taken it down to the three key pieces to make your members stay members for life.

EZTee line in Vancouver, BC

1. Upkeep.

Make your members proud to visit and bring their personal network. Have a strong maintenance team to ensure the entire grounds are kept looking pristine. Flowers and treed in areas give a warmth especially if your club is a more versatile space with a restaurant, shop, and driving range. Another option is for the tee line to stay looking like new. Over half of the top 20 courses in Canada use the EZTee Hybrid Plus tee line. It comes with a warranty in the case it does not live up to your expectations, but this has yet to happen. There are also alternatives such as turf bunkers to keep sand out of the greens, turf ponds to avoid the lost balls at the bottom of the cold ponds, and fully synthetic greens to keep the space green year round without the maintenance.

2. Keep learning.

The more you have to offer, the longer your members will find value in staying a customer. Read, attend local meetings, and get together with like-minded individuals to stay up to date on new practices and ideas to better your club. Everyone you meet will have a fresh persepective on your golf club. If there is something you are looking to improve, there’s a chance someone you know will be able to help or recommend you to someone they know. Aquire new skills and experiences regularly to stay fresh and on top of your competitive advantage.

3. Connect.

Stay connected with members. Hold socials each month to create a community among members, dividing into women’s/men’s nights is a common event. Offer a rewards program for reaching a certain amount of visits or bringing a certain amount of new friends. This not only allows your members the opportunity to show others your club, but provides you a chance to prove your club to new visitors. Lastly, listen to requests from visitors and members. Maybe they see something you could improve or change that you haven’t noticed yet. Always be willing to listen and learn from others and you will surprise yourself what you accomplish.
